Fabric takes things up differently from stone: there are no pores to fill, only fibres to coat. That is why textile products go on as a spray - evenly and without soaking the material.

Fabric and upholstery protector

TexGuard is a protector based on a fluorinated resin. It limits how much water and grease get into the fibre, so dirt stays on the surface instead of working into the material. It does not change the colour or texture of the fabric. Use it on sofa and armchair upholstery, rugs and carpets.

Awning and parasol protector

Outdoor fabrics such as awnings and parasols are a typical use for TexGuard. Before you start, clean the material and let it dry completely - sealing dirty fabric locks the dirt in. Work somewhere well ventilated and do not use the awning until the material is completely dry.

Stain remover for rugs, carpets and upholstery

TexClean is a ready-to-use stain remover for textiles. It removes stains from grease, soft drinks, ink, lipstick, coffee, tea and red wine. It works fast, so use it straight away: the fresher the stain, the easier it comes out, and a dried-on one usually needs a second treatment. The formula contains no chlorine bleach, but fabric dyes vary widely - start with a test on a seam underneath or under a cushion.

Stain remover first, protector second

  1. Vacuum the fabric. Dust bound in by the protector stays there along with the coating.
  2. Remove stains with TexClean. A stain sealed under TexGuard stays in the fibre for good.
  3. Wait until the fabric is dry, then spray on TexGuard in an even coat.
  4. After washing, check the protection with a drop of water. If the water starts soaking in instead of beading on the surface, apply it again.

Questions before you choose

Will the protector change the colour or stiffness of the fabric?

No - TexGuard changes neither the colour nor the texture of the material. A test on a seam underneath or under a cushion will confirm it on your fabric.

Will the treatment survive washing?

Check after washing: spray the fabric with water. If the drops bead on the surface, the protection is working; if the water starts to soak in, repeat the treatment.

Is it suitable for an awning or a garden parasol?

Yes - choose a product with outdoor fabrics on its list of recommended substrates. The awning or parasol has to be clean and completely dry before treatment.
