The letter is the substrate
H and V - siloxane products for absorbent materials. S - for polished stone. C, D, OL, R - cleaning and anti-slip.
The number is the finish
**-1** leaves the colour alone. **-2** deepens it for a wet-look finish.

CTS Chemistry is the widest of the three brands in this shop - thirty-three items - and the one where it pays to understand the code before you start choosing.

Reading the codes

  • HK, HBP, HG, HP - siloxane sealers for absorbent materials: paving, patio slabs, flamed granite, sandstone. Applied to saturation.
  • VB, VBe, VC, VD, VP - the same chemistry tested on walls, split-face units, brick, roof tiles and sandstone facades.
  • SG, SM, ST, SK - solvent-based products with high penetration, for polished stone and for paving. Applied in one coat and polished.
  • C and D - cleaners. The C range is for routine washing, the D range for what the C range will not shift.
  • OL and R - an oil stain remover and anti-slip treatments for tiles.

The number at the end

Most of the sealers come in pairs. -1 is single-component and colourless, -2 is multi-component and deepens the colour. The choice between them is aesthetic and not reversible once dry, which is why the manufacturer requires a test patch.

The CTS Chemistry data sheets are unusually detailed: density, pH, penetration depth, water absorption coefficient and alkali resistance, each with the standard it was measured to. All of those values are in the "Technical data" tab of every product.

Questions before you choose

What is missing from the CTS Chemistry data sheets?

Coverage for the H and V siloxane range. The manufacturer does not publish it, because the product is applied to saturation and the absorbency of the material decides consumption entirely. We leave the field empty rather than entering an estimate - the practical method is to seal one square metre and multiply.

How does the S range differ from the H range?

Chemistry and intended use. H are water-based siloxane products for absorbent materials. S are solvent-based products with high penetration, for polished stone, where an ordinary sealer has no pores to enter.

Does the S range need ventilation?

Yes. These are solvent-based products and the manufacturer requires good ventilation during application and for 72 hours afterwards. The period is given on every product.
