Bitumen and asphalt remover GBR - Guard Industry
Removes bitumen, asphalt and tar residues from equipment, tools and vehicles used in road work. It dissolves dried-on deposits, so there is no need to scrape them off dry.
GBR is for one kind of soiling: bitumen, asphalt and tar. They need a different approach from concrete residue - what is needed is a solvent, not an acid or an alkali.
It is made for equipment and vehicles used in road work: bodies, rails, tools and underbody parts. It softens dried deposits, so you do not have to scrape them off dry.
Equipment is cleaned differently from a surface: the deposit is thicker, and the substrate - metal, rubber, lacquer, seals - is often more sensitive than concrete.
- Check the technical data for the materials the product does not attack.
- Work on fresh or softened deposits. A product applied at the end of a shift works overnight and the deposit washes off in the morning.
- Do not let the product dry on the part being cleaned.
- Rinse thoroughly and dry metal parts before putting equipment away for any length of time.
According to the manufacturers' data, the products in this range are not classified as corrosive - at most as irritant. Even so, always wear gloves and eye protection.

- Can I use these products on block paving?
No. These products are formulated for metal and equipment, not for absorbent mineral substrates. For cleaning surfaces, use the products in "Cleaning and restoration".
- What is the difference between a preventive and a cleaning product?
When you use it. A preventive product goes on before the soiling, or right after work, so the deposit never bonds. A cleaning product dissolves a deposit that has already stuck. Some products, such as GTN, do both.
- Does the product need neutralising after rinsing?
It depends on the product's chemistry. If it needs no neutralising, its description says so. If there is nothing on it, write to us before you start and we will tell you how to proceed.
- Will it work on an asphalt stain on block paving?
Do not use it on paving. GBR is formulated for equipment and tools, not for absorbent mineral substrates - the solvent can carry the bitumen deeper into the concrete. For surfaces, use the products in "Cleaning and restoration" and start with a test.
