Lowers the water uptake of flamed and bush-hammered granite without changing the colour of the stone. You apply this single-component, water-based siloxane sealer just once - in a single heavier coat of about 1 mm, wiping off the excess after an hour.
Natural stoneHG-1 is a colourless sealer for flamed and bush-hammered granite - stone with a worked, textured surface that absorbs far more than a polish does.
HG-1 is applied once, whatever the absorbency of the substrate, in a single heavier coat of about 1 mm. Do not spread it thin: a thick coat gives the product time to penetrate and bond with the stone. After 60 minutes, wipe off what is left with a soft, absorbent cloth, and do not apply another coat.
After sealing, for 24 hours, do not walk on the surface, wash it or put anything on it.
Stone forgives less than concrete. An acidic cleaner used on marble or travertine will etch the surface irreversibly, and excess sealer on a polish leaves a smear that can no longer be removed.
After sealing, polished stone usually stays out of use for 72 hours.
Before sealing the whole area, test on a patch hidden by a planter or in a corner of the patio. The same product can read differently on two batches of the same material, and on a surface with old coating left on it, it will not bond at all.
Not always. Marble is soft and sensitive to acids, granite is not, so the product has to match the type of stone. Before you buy, check that marble is on the list of recommended substrates.
With cleaning products of the right pH. For the polished-stone range that is usually pH 5-9 for the invisible versions, and a wider range for the wet-look ones. You will find the range for your product in its technical data.
It helps, though not in every case. It limits the ingress of water and the compounds dissolved in it, including those that discolour stone from below. It will not stop processes inside the stone itself, or rust from fixings.
Composition and finish. The -1 versions are single-component, based on siloxanes alone, and dry colourless. The -2 versions are multi-component - siloxanes with modified silanes - and give a lasting wet-look finish. Both meet PN-EN 1504-2 tab. 3 and both leave the pores open.
A litre of HG-1 covers approx. 5-11 m², depending on the type and absorbency of the granite. It goes on once, in a single coat of about 1 mm, so for very absorbent stone count towards the lower figure and add a small margin.
After 5-6 hours. Until then, keep the freshly sealed surface out of the rain and direct sun.
No. A polish has no pores for a siloxane product to enter. For polished granite the products are SG-1 and SG-2.
