The concentrated version of the MG range, for materials of low and very low porosity: marble, polished granite, porcelain. Alongside water, oils, grease and weak acids the manufacturer lists graffiti.
What separates it from the Eco version is concentration and range: MG is a concentrated product and covers graffiti protection, while Eco is water-based, solvent-free and carries food-contact approval.
The product is colourless and forms no film - the material stays permeable to air and water vapour, and the manufacturer states that the treatment does not yellow with age.
Stone forgives less than concrete. An acidic cleaner used on marble or travertine will etch the surface irreversibly, and excess sealer on a polish leaves a smear that can no longer be removed.
After sealing polished stone, manufacturers require the surface to stay out of use, usually for 72 hours. The exact figure is under "Technical data".
Before sealing the whole area, test on a patch hidden by a planter or in a corner of the patio. The same product can read differently on two batches of the same material, and on a surface with old coating left on it, it will not bond at all.
Chemistry and finish. The -1 versions are single-component, siloxane-based and dry colourless. The -2 versions also contain modified silanes and deepen the colour for a wet-stone effect. Protection against water is the job of the product in both cases; what separates them is the finish.
Do not assume so. Marble is soft and sensitive to acids, granite is not - the manufacturer states the stone in the product's intended use, and our categories follow that. Every product lists its recommended substrates in the technical data.
Manufacturers of the polished-stone range state a permitted pH range for cleaning products - usually pH 5-9 for the invisible versions and wider for the wet-look ones. The figure for each product is under "Technical data".
It limits the ingress of water and the compounds dissolved in it, including those that discolour stone from below. It will not stop processes inside the stone itself, or rust from fixings.
Materials of low and very low porosity, including polished ones. For absorbent stone - sandstone, travertine, limestone - the right products are the siloxane sealers applied to saturation, not this one.
The manufacturer describes the product as colourless and as not changing the appearance or character of the material. As with any sealer on polished stone, the excess has to be lifted before it dries.
