Lowers the water uptake of concrete patio slabs and makes them more resistant to staining and efflorescence, without changing their colour. The water-based, solvent-free siloxane sealer penetrates deep into the slab (over 5 mm), and the concrete stays vapour-permeable.
Concrete and floorsHBP-1 is the colourless CTS sealer for concrete patio slabs. Chemically it is the same proven single-component siloxane product as HK-1, but tested on patio slabs - a sure choice for your patio.
It lowers the water uptake of the slab, so rainwater and the compounds dissolved in it enter the concrete more slowly. It also increases resistance to soiling and efflorescence and, according to the manufacturer, to biological growth.
A solvent-free product, alkali and UV resistant, that does not impair gas or water-vapour diffusion - the pores stay open. Suitable indoors and out, on old and new surfaces.
The usual reason a sealing job fails is not the product but the substrate. A sealer will not bond to a surface with grease, lime efflorescence or an old coating on it.
New paving has to season first - usually around 28 days from the date the block was made. You will find the exact time for each product in its technical data.
Before sealing the whole area, test on a patch hidden by a planter or in a corner of the patio. The same product can read differently on two batches of the same material, and on a surface with old coating left on it, it will not bond at all.
Only if you want it to. An invisible product leaves the colour alone, a wet-look sealer deepens it permanently, and a colour sealer gives it a new shade.
By how the water behaves. While it still beads on the surface, the treatment is working. Once water starts soaking in and dark patches return after rain, the protection has worn out.
No. Water occupies the pores the product is meant to enter, and stays trapped under the film. The result is often a milky bloom that cannot be removed without stripping the coat. The exceptions are the few products that tolerate slight surface dampness.
Not if you choose a penetrating product - it forms no film on the surface and does not change its grip. If the surface is already slippery, choose an anti-slip treatment rather than a sealer.
Composition and finish. The -1 versions are single-component, based on siloxanes alone, and dry colourless. The -2 versions are multi-component - siloxanes with modified silanes - and give a lasting wet-look finish. Both meet PN-EN 1504-2 tab. 3 and both leave the pores open.
Consumption depends on the absorbency of the material, because the product is applied to saturation - so the surest way to work it out is to seal one square metre, see how much product it took, and multiply by your area, adding a margin.
After 5-6 hours. Until then, protect the freshly sealed surface from rain and from direct sun.
Apply to full saturation in one generous coat; on absorbent material, repeat the application wet-on-wet.
