Concrete and floorsD-12 is a strongly alkaline concentrate (pH approx. 12.5) for very heavy organic and greasy soiling - where a routine cleaner from the C range is no longer enough.
One rule always applies: do not use undiluted. Dilute with water from 1:5 to 1:1 - 1:4 is usually enough. Expect to use approx. 0.1-0.3 l of working solution per square metre.
Before cleaning, cover anything you are not washing - ideally with absorbent material, polyurethane sponge or wiping cloth.
The usual reason a sealing job fails is not the product but the substrate. A sealer will not bond to a surface with grease, lime efflorescence or an old coating on it.
New paving has to season first - usually around 28 days from the date the block was made. You will find the exact time for each product in its technical data.
Before sealing the whole area, test on a patch hidden by a planter or in a corner of the patio. The same product can read differently on two batches of the same material, and on a surface with old coating left on it, it will not bond at all.
Only if you want it to. An invisible product leaves the colour alone, a wet-look sealer deepens it permanently, and a colour sealer gives it a new shade.
By how the water behaves. While it still beads on the surface, the treatment is working. Once water starts soaking in and dark patches return after rain, the protection has worn out.
No. Water occupies the pores the product is meant to enter, and stays trapped under the film. The result is often a milky bloom that cannot be removed without stripping the coat. The exceptions are the few products that tolerate slight surface dampness.
Not if you choose a penetrating product - it forms no film on the surface and does not change its grip. If the surface is already slippery, choose an anti-slip treatment rather than a sealer.
A 1:4 dilution means one part product to four parts water - a litre of concentrate gives five litres of working solution. Where the ratio is given in ml per litre of water (the C range), work the other way: 50 ml per litre means 20 litres of solution from one litre of concentrate.
Choose by surface - it is the same chemistry for two uses. D-12 is the all-purpose product for heavy organic soiling. D-12K is tested and prepared specifically for block paving, with defined working conditions: up to 30 °C and 85 % humidity.
Because as a concentrate at pH 12.5 it is too aggressive - both for the surface you are cleaning and for you. Dilution is a condition of use, not a recommendation: always make up the working solution first.
Consumption depends on how absorbent the surface is and how you apply the product.
